Blub! is a rewrite of BrainFuck, inspired by Ook, but for fish, so with the onomatopoeia Blub. This obfuscated esoteric programming language is supposed to be written and read by fish (blub being the sound made by fish when they communicate by blowing bubbles). From a BrainFuck code and the following table, a code can be translated into Blub! :
+ | Blub. Blub. |
---|---|
- | Blub! Blub! |
> | Blub. Blub? |
< | Blub? Blub. |
[ | Blub! Blub? |
] | Blub? Blub! |
. | Blub! Blub. |
, | Blub. Blub! |
Example: The Blub! program Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub! Blub? Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub! Blub! Blub? Blub! Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub? Blub. Blub? Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub
outputs the characters BLUB
In order to shorten writing and avoid multiples Blub, the code is sometimes simplified (by removing the Blub), making it a ternary code (with 3 characters):
+ | .. |
---|---|
- | !! |
> | .? |
< | ?. |
[ | !? |
] | ?! |
. | !. |
, | .! |
The Blub! Runs through an Blub! Interpreter (or Blub! compiler). If a byte is returned at the output of the program, it will appear in the console on dCode. In addition, the data in memory of the Blub! will also be displayed.
The message consists of the words Blub followed by . (dot) or ? (question mark) or ! (exclamation mark).
Any references to fishing, fish or fishfood are clues.
