Split the code into pieces (normally there is a space separator) and check what each letter means.
The pluses and minuses indicate the person's position or skills (- for negative, + for positive).
Example: C corresponds to Computers:
C++ : Computers are a large part of my existence. When I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is log myself in. I play games or mud on weekends, but still manage to stay off of academic probation.
C-- : Where's the on switch?
The message is composed of letters and several symbols + (plus) or - (minus) and references to Geek culture: Star Trek, X Files, Mac, Unix, Steve Jobs, etc. are numerous.
The first letter of geek code is normally a capital G.
Sometimes the code is preceded by the string -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK-----
