Answers to Questions (FAQ)

What is the iokharic language? (Definition)

The Iokharic language, sometimes called Draconic, is an imaginary language used by Dragons in Dungeons and Dragons (D&D).

How to encrypt using iokharic language?

The iokharic language uses an alphabet of 36 characters to represent the 26 letters of the alphabet and the 10 digits (from 0 to 9).

The encryption/translation phase is therefore a substitution of the characters with the corresponding iokharic symbols.

How to decrypt iokharic cipher?

Deciphering/translating iokharic scripts consists in substituting each character by the corresponding Latin alphabet letter (or digit). However, the iokharic language also uses a word dictionary of its own, so the resulting text may not be intelligible.

Example: char(68)char(82)char(65)char(71)char(79)char(78) is translated by DRAGON

How to recognize a iokharic text?

The message is composed of symbols recalling the claws of a dragon, with mainly 1 to 3 vertical and horizontal lines.

Any references to the dragon creature, its wings, its flames (fire breathing), etc. are clues.

The iokharic language is not the only alphabet given to the dragons, like Draconic, Dovahzul, Wyrmish or Amharic, all are sometimes used in role playing games (RPG) like dungeons and dragons (D&D).
