Javanese is a coded language based on French, consisting of inserting a syllable (often av) after each vowel in a word. Appearing in France in the 19th century, Javanese was originally used to conceal certain remarks in a playful manner. Although it is not a language in itself, it is seen as a language game or slang.
Javanais insert a syllable between a vowel and a consonant in words in order to make them non understandable, usually the syllable is AV. Silent e are generally ignored.
This basic rule transforms ordinary words into a coded version that is difficult for the uninitiated to understand.
Example: DCODE becomes DCAVODE in Javanais.
Javanese can be applied to any language by inserting av or another similar syllable after each vowel.
Javanais decryption consists in removing the parasitic syllable in order to find the original text.
Example: BAVONJAVOUR becomes BONJOUR.
The message has many occurrences of the same bigram: AV usually.
The text is supposed to have slang sounds when spoken.
The words are longer, and interspersed with the same letters AV.
Some words have entered the French dictionary like bavonjavour (bonjour/hello), gravos (gros/fat) or plavon (plan)
The most common variant uses av as an insertion, but other syllables like zig or èf can be used to speak/write differently.
Javanese verlan is a combination of verlan (reversing the syllables) and Javanese.
Fire Language is a variant using syllables with an F like AF
Pig Latin is a similar coded language used in English-speaking countries.
Javanese is said to have emerged in France in the 19th century, used by working-class circles and youth groups as a coded language to conceal their words.
In French, the Javanais is associated with a complex jargon or incomprehensible one, the expression is equivalent to c'est du chinois.
