What is a percentage? (Definition)

A percentage is the measure of the number of items in a set (or total) expressed as a fraction with a denominator of 100 (one hundred).

A percentage is a ratio per 100 items. By always using 100, the percentages are easily compared for statistics.

How to convert a fraction into a percentage?

A percentage is the numerator of a fraction with the denominator 100 (one hundred). To convert a fraction to a percentage multiply the numerator and the denominator by a factor in order to have the denominator equals to 100.

Example: $ 3/4 = (3*25)/(4*25) = 75/100 = 75\% $

How to convert a percentage into a decimal number?
