Hodor is a programming language, which is based on javascript, from which it performs a double substitution. First the keywords of the javascript language (var, if, while, for, etc.) are replaced by HODOR (and its variants) but also all the strings of the Latin alphabet except the letters H, O , D and R (from HODOR) which are also substituted by HODOR (and its variants). Here is a simplified alphabet:
a | HODOR | b | Hodor! |
---|---|---|---|
c | hodor | e | hodor? |
f | HODOR! | g | hodor! |
i | Hodor? | j | HODOR?! |
k | hodor?! | l | Hodor!? |
m | Hodor. | n | HODOR? |
p | HODOR. | q | Hodor!?! |
s | Hodor | t | hodor. |
u | hodor!? | v | Hodor?! |
w | HODOR!? | x | Hodor?!? |
y | HODOR!?! | z | hodor!?! |
Example: The word winter constituted of the letters w,i,n,t,e,r becomes HODOR!? Hodor? HODOR? hodor. hodor? r
Uppercase letters are differentiated from lowercase letters.
Here are the Javascript grammar matches:
break | !HODOR;;; | case | ?hooDooRrr |
---|---|---|---|
console.log | hodor.hod | catch | !!!HODOR!!! |
else | hoDOR!!! | for | HODOR{} |
function | HoDoRHoDoR | if | HOdor!!! |
instanceof | hodorhodorho | new | HHHOOODDDDOOORRR!!! |
return | HODOR:: | switch | HODORHODOR |
throw | !hOdor! | try | !hodOr! |
typeof | Hodor?????????!?!?!?!? | var | $HODOR: |
while | hodor............ |
The message must first be substituted according to the correspondence table above.
Then the message is supposed to be Javascript code, which any web browser can interpret.
The Javascript program can do anything and everything, it can potentially be dangerous for your device.
The message is easy to recognize because it consists almost exclusively of words hodor (and its variants).
The source code theoretically does not contain other letters than D,H,O,R (it can contain numbers).
Any reference to Game of Thrones, winter, the name Wylis (the real first name of the character), Kristian Nairn (the name of the actor in the series) or a door to hold is a clue.
